Up-sell, Cross-sell and Related Products in Magento 2¶
E-Commerce merchants always look for how to increase the AOV or get the most ROI from their online store. Magento 2 is well provisioned with such a facility. Via Upsell and Cross-sell functionality, one can increase the order amount. It can be used in addition to the traditional related product options. To know-how, let’s get to the roots first.
Up-sell products: These products can either be of higher value or quality. Up-sell products are the products that customers prefer instead of the current products they have considered. They are also the most popular ones or have a higher margin to have profit for store owners. You have always seen the tag lines on the product detail pages as “You may also like this” or “You may also be interested in the following products.” It is set as the Up-sell functionality of the store and must be selected as a similar product or connected with the chosen products.
Cross-sell products: Slightly different from Upsell products, Cross-sell products are used to impulse the order value. Customers buy the products in addition to the chosen ones. A belt, shoes, or earrings might be offered to a shopper to purchase the complete look with a white dress. Connected items are cross-linked to showcase a cross-selling product. It appears on a shopping cart page just before the final checkout.
Related products: Products from the same category and type are known as related products. Share a more comprehensive range of product or service options with your customers. It is majorly used to get the attention on less popular products. The placement of the Related Products block varies with the defined theme and page layout.
